Creating a search component

A search element defines the layout of a form that is used to display search results. To use a search, you must create a search component. You cannot add search elements to authoring templates, sites, site areas, or content items.

About this task

To create a search component, open the applications menu and go to Content > Web Content Management and then click New > Component > Search.
  1. Search component identification
    Specify identification information for the component, including the name, title and description of the component.
  2. Specify a location for the search component
    When creating a component you can specify the location of the component.
  3. Creating a search results design
    The search element is used to define the design that is used to display search results.
  4. Search component properties
    Specify properties for the component, including the list of authors and owners associated with the component.
  5. Granting search component access
    Specify the access control settings for the component to determine which users have access to the component and their level of access.
