Creating a taxonomy component

You can use a taxonomy element only by creating a taxonomy component. You cannot add a taxonomy element to authoring templates, sites, site areas, or content items.

About this task

To create a taxonomy component, open the applications menu and go to Content > Web Content Management and then click New > Component > Taxonomy.
  1. Taxonomy component identification
    Specify identification information for the component, including the name, title and description of the component.
  2. Specify a location for the taxonomy component
    When creating a component you can specify the location of the component.
  3. Defining taxonomy component properties
    You use the taxonomy element to define the properties of the taxonomy component.
  4. Taxonomy component properties
    Specify properties for the component, including the list of authors and owners associated with the component.
  5. Granting taxonomy component access
    Specify the access control settings for the component to determine which users have access to the component and their level of access.
